3 D100 WIRELESS 3G

I have a power adaptor issue and cannot find a direct replacement has anyone else had a similar problem and can recommend a replacement adaptor that won't blow the router.

Just to clarify, the device in question is a Huawei router configured to derive its broadband connection from one of those Huawei mobile broadband dongles distributed by mobile telephone companies like '3'.

In general I find it can be very difficult to replace the transformer/power adaptor for all routers at anything close to a reasonable cost!

One comment I would make is don't get another Huawei unit. Their kit seems not to last, and there are severe question marks over the vulnerability of their networking products to deliberate back door hacks (Huawei management seem very close to the Chinese equivalent of the KGB)
Regarding the Edimax unit you suggest, Edimax are very much a "budget" brand, but all the gear I've ever bought from them has worked "out of the box" with no problems or surprises. However I don't know this specific item
Another possible one to look at is the Netgear MBR624GU. Check to see whether either has any compatibility issues with your specific 3G dongles - support may not be universal on all models

I have had Edimax kit in the past and found that whilst it worked out of the box, it needed rebooting a couple of times a week. One customer has had similar issues with Edimax and has now bought another brand.

Overall, I find the budget brands less reliable.

just shows how experiences differ and you can't take one persons view as definitive - all my experiences with Edimax have been good, but Alan clearly has other ideas. Anyone else care to comment?
