MAC DVD Drive

My 2005 mac cd/dvd drive reads and then shows fatal error. e.g whatching video and after 20 minutes will not read any more and closes programme - Any ideas please?

only the obvious - sounds like the drive has failed

Six years is quite good for an optical drve

Sounds like you are in need of a new or refurbished DVD/CD drive they are generally quite good value to get ranging from £7 to around £45 and should last another six years or even longer they also come with warranties which cover if the fail within warranties.

This is an Apple Mac, and depending on model it may well require a Mac-specific drive ... which will come at a cost
