unlit lcd

just got a new screen for my sony vaio, fitted it but its not lit, can barely make out the screen. workin fine, just not lit....can you help. on benifits an cant afford the 100quid they want to repair it at the shop. many many thanks

Did you fit it yourself? check the connections for the backlight. Normally a small white two pin plug with one white and one red cable. It comes out of the bottom of the screen, and needs to be plugged into the invertor.

Otherwise, it may be that it was not the screen that failed, but the invertor.
