Recovery Partition

Hi - I am so sorry to keep on about this problem, but could you tell me if I can access the recovery partition from a Boot Setup Menu on my Advent 9912 Notebook? I really would be so grateful if someone could help me. Been working on this for days.

RE: Recovery Partition

Hi

Did you try with F10 key.You need to keep pressing it after switching on your laptop.
Or
Try F8 which will take you to advance boot option from there select repair option.

RE: Recovery Partition

I have managed to get to Advanced Boot Options.
I dont see 'Repair' listed at all, but on the page it says: DFOROM (Robson) Support, when I press F9 a message box appears saying Setup Confirmation. Load default confioguration now? Yes or No.

If it does not work, then the image is missing or corrupted and you will have to restore the machine from a Windows CD

RE: Recovery Partition

I just want to thank you all so much for your suggestions. Bit by bit, I have managed to get the Notebook to reboot to Windows without buying a recovery disk. All is ok now.

RE: Recovery Partition

According to her previous posts, Dorrie C. has an HP Pavillion m7655uk desktop and an Advent 9912 Notebook that she bought on eBay (that has given her a huge amount of trouble). Although on the first of April she said that the Advent was her only laptop (in response to a similar observation from Jon S.) http://www.pciq.com/computer_support_forum/email_related_issues/view_topic.asp?topicid=4047&searchstring=Dorrie by the 5th April she had also acquired a Sony Vaio laptop http://www.pciq.com/computer_support_forum/email_related_issues/view_topic.asp?topicid=4108&searchstring=Dorrie !!! I do not think she has mentioned any other computers.

RE: Recovery Partition

an line translation engine read this into:
Hello people.
Maybe somebody can say to me like me mine recovery cd or dvd data again on my Vista Home premium bekomme.habe tries, but he accepts the data no more, in spite of merere tries he breaks off the process"

Sounds to me like the recovery partition is damaged and wont reload, in which case a Windows DVD is required. However without more details I for one am not prepared to speculate further

RE: Recovery Partition

Hi!!... Jon & Alan. Just read your remarks regarding my queries on various issues relating to MY computers. No, I am not running a repair business. Truth is, I am severely disabled, and I have 5 computers which I use for various things. My husband uses one for flight simulations. One rather old one, a HP Pavilion not used much, the other two, one runs XP and the other Vista. The laptop (Sony) was a present to me, to enable me to use it at times when I could not get upstairs (my stairlift was not working)! the Notebook belonged to my friend who died, and the family gave it to me, because they thought it would be more portable. So, therefore - I thought an explanation would be appropriate in case you thought I was picking your brains to enable me to earn money by repairing other peoples' computers. Hope this clears the questions up now.
