RE: Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Si 2636 disassembly

Some notebook manufactureres make their service manuals readily available for download. Other manufacturers produce manuals for their service agents but not for the public. These manuals can find their way onto the Internet but are often on sites that charge a fee for the download (making it hard to be sure what you will get for your money). Occasionally, public-spirited people disassemble a notebook by trial-and-error then publish a guide on-line. Sometimes there is no documentation to be had.

A quick Google search revealed no instructions that I could find. There is a chance that another Professional here may know of something but I think it is a slim chance.

Here's an example of a site claiming to have all the documents, but I've no idea what they charge.

all I can find is the product overview at
http://uk.ts.fujitsu.com/rl/servicesupport/techsupport/lifebook/AMILO/Amilo-S/Amilo_Si2636.htm

Doesn't tell you much, except the second SODIMM slot is under the keyboard

To get to the motherboard:

1: Take out the batterie.

2: Unsrew al screws on the backside.

3: Take out harddrive.

4: Turn over and remove keyboard by pressing in taps on top of keybord by the keys: F1, F4, F8, F12 and Del-key. The keyboard will pop-up.

5: VERY CAREFULLY!!! remove the wirers to the keyboard from the motherboard by lifting up the the lock on the wirers. The brown one. You can't take it of but just lift it.

6: Do the same whit the wirer to the mouse.

7: You can now remove the top and get in to the motherboard.

RE: Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Si 2636 disassembly

we don't have any more information about this model
There appears not to be a service manual available on the internet, and it would appear that none of us knows this particular model.
Have you tried the instructions given by Jean H in her post? Does that give access to the fan?

Thanks Jean H. The tabs holding the keyboard on are not obvious, had to push them back with small flat screw driver. This helped me get extra ram into my wife's old amilo. Looks. Like the keyboard will lift off with no screw removal.
