RE: Hi i see blue dots on Dell start up screen at the end of its life...before i was playing call of dut

at a rough guess either failed RAM or more likely a failed graphics card
has the machine been overheating: Is it - or the graphics card - overclocked?

We need more information on the model involved. Is it a desktop or a laptop? Please give the exact model number, or better still the Dell Service tag, then someone can give you a better idea of cost.

The last Dell laptop I saw with one of the notorious faulty Nvidia graphics chips was covered by an extended warranty scheme. Is that scheme still running or has it expired now?

Yes the warranty is expired! why is it a bad one wat does that mean? and is it legal to sell "bad" laptops?

RE: Hi i see blue dots on Dell start up screen at the end of its life...before i was playing call of dut

there is a generic weakness in a number of Nvidia laptop graphics chips which make them fail prematurely
its well known, and a problem across many different brands of PC. Some companies have responded to it by extending the warranty period. Some have not. Dell have for SOME models, but not all those affected
You need to speak to Dell and see if your is one covered by the extended warranty

RE: Hi i see blue dots on Dell start up screen at the end of its life...before i was playing call of dut

if I'm right on the diagnosis, then the cost of a replacement motherboard - if you can get one - will be close on £200 plus you have to add labour
However a replacement board is going to have the same generic fault, and that assumes Dell will sell one anyway. Last time we tried to get one for a customer Dell UK refused and we had to look at sourcing one from the USA

RE: Hi i see blue dots on Dell start up screen at the end of its life...before i was playing call of dut

It's likely to be beyond economic repair, even if you could find the parts. But Dell DID extend the warranty on certain computers. You should try to check that yours is not amongst those - Dell would not have told you about this unless you asked them.

RE: Hi i see blue dots on Dell start up screen at the end of its life...before i was playing call of dut

before you do write it off, just try checking the RAM memory first. That message could refer to that.
If you don't have any spare RAM it would be worth getting someone to come and look at it to rule it out. Replacement laptop RAM is cheap

I'd still bet on the graphics going u/s - but we may be wrong

RE: Hi i see blue dots on Dell start up screen at the end of its life...before i was playing call of dut

I'm afraid only a tiny minority of laptops have a graphics card. The norm is to have a graphics chip integrated onto the motherboard and if it goes wrong then the whole motherboard must be replaced.
