RE: a friend just bought a packard bell easy note mx37-s-200 laptop and tried to connect to the internet

You don't give us much to go on
How are you trying to connect? Wired? Wireless?
Do you have an existing working internet connection or is it a new one?
if wired have you tried a new cable?
If wireless have you turned the wireless adaptor on (read the manual for that)
Have you checked the WEP or WPA key?
tell us more about what is happening and maybe we can better advise

Packard Bell's support site for this is at

http://support.packardbell.com/uk/item/?m=home&pn=PC10E06901

Don't forget it could be faulty - in which case you need to speak to the support team of the companyq you purchased it from

RE: a friend just bought a packard bell easy note mx37-s-200 laptop and tried to connect to the internet

Yvonne, you have tried to connect a new computer to the internet and it failed. My advice would be to call out a PCIQ Professional and get them to do it for your friend. Follow the Get Support link on the PCIQ Home Page.

If you don't want to do this, then you need to tell us not only WHAT you were trying to do but HOW you were trying to do it. Without the HOW there is nothing we can do to help.

RE: a friend just bought a packard bell easy note mx37-s-200 laptop and tried to connect to the internet

Please answer an earlier question
Are you trying to to connect wirelessly or wired?
Also what is the make and model of the modem / router you are using
Please elaborate on the "we are in area location 4 but all coming up is loc 6& 7" statement as this makes no sense to me whatsoever.
Who is the broadband provider?
Finally, which country are you in?

RE: a friend just bought a packard bell easy note mx37-s-200 laptop and tried to connect to the internet

Okay, now we know you are trying to use a cable modem the solution is very simple.

Remove the power lead to the cable modem
Plug the cable that was going into the old computer into the new computer (unless you were using a USB connection before. You need to use an Ethernet connection for Vista. You should have received an Ethernet cable with your modem. The Ethernet cable is usually yellow whilst the USB cable is usually blue).
Wait 30 seconds
Replace the power lead to the cable modem to turn it back on.
Wait another 30 seconds whilst it gets going.
Hey presto, you will be connected to the internet.

If you want to reconnect your old computer afterwards you need to follow the same procedure.
