RE: sound problens
Volume turned up? Nothing muted? No headphones plugged in? Have you tried a system restore or a driver rollback?
Not a lot else you can do other than try it with a set of external speakers or a headphone The problem with these all in one systems is that the failure of a trivial component (e.g. speakers) can ruin the whole machine This machine can't be all that old - is it still under warranty? If it is, call them ASAP
If not, and the solution isn't obvious (and you're sure you've used the correct drivers) then the only cost effective option would be a plug in USB sound card and external speakers

RE: sound problens
or even a factory reset - that will have a hidden recovery partition on it. I think you get into that via the F8 /"repair my computer" menu, but the documents should make that clear If it doesn't work after a factory reset, its dead

RE: sound problens
I have a DVD that boots Linux Mint. I use this once in a blue moon to help me with computer issues. If you made yourself something like that and used it to load a temporary version of Linux and then found that the speakers worked you would know for certain you have a Windows software problem. If they didn't work then it could well be a hardware problem but it could also be a problem with Linux not recognising your sound chip.

RE: sound problens
Go into Sound on Control Panel and check that the correct sound card is being used. There may be more than one "speaker type" device installed.
