Removing XP

The saga continues!!!!

'Posted on here 17th March and have just got round to trying to sort it!!!!!

So, want to get rid of XP, running a dual boot system with Win 7.

XP is on a separate partition of the main hard drive, labelled the D drive.

Have tried to format the partition, Windows won't let me.

Have tried partitioning software, it tells me the D drive (Win XP) is the primary partition and the C drive (Win 7) is one of the logical partitions.

Windows won't let me change these so that the C drive is the primary drive and won't let me format the D drive with the partitioning software.

Have been into the BIOS but it only shows the individual drives not the partitions.

On startup the default is Win 7 but I can chose XP if I want to, otherwise Win 7 starts after 30 seconds.'

It has now been suggested that if I remove the hard drive and fit it into a caddy, plug into my laptop, and format it from there it should get round the problem without formatting the whole drive and doing a clean Win7 install.

Comments please and thank you in advance.
